What is the Facebook Pixel?

This is a question I get asked all the time. What is the Facebook Pixel and how does it work? Well that’s exactly what I cover in this video.

Most people who advertise on Facebook have heard of the Facebook Pixel, but a lot of them aren’t really sure what it is or what it does.

Basically the Facebook Pixel is a small piece of code that you can install on your website.

And it’s primarily used for 2 things:

• Tracking Facebook users on your website
• Building retargeting lists

Let’s start with number 1.

Tracking Facebook users on your website

By installing the Facebook Pixel on your website you can track the actions that people take on your website.

This becomes especially important if you’re running Facebook ad campaigns.

Because with the Facebook pixel you can quite accurately track how many leads your campaign is generating. And how many sales your campaign is generating and a bunch of other things.

That’s really powerful, because if you know how many leads and sales your ad campaigns are generating, then you can calculate your ROI.

I see a lot of Facebook ad accounts where businesses have spent a lot of money without installing the Facebook pixel on their website.

That’s crazy.

You need to be able to track the results that you’re getting and know whether or not your campaigns are actually profitable.

And #2…

Build retargeting lists

Provided you have the Facebook pixel installed, anyone that visits your website can be added to a retargeting list.

They need to be logged in to their Facebook account on the device they are using to visit your website. But that’s just about everyone.

When they visit your website, all those people can be added to a retargeting list. What’s called a custom audience in Facebook.

And that means you can specifically advertise to those people.

Which is incredibly powerful because you can guarantee that the people that have already visited your website are far more likely to buy your products and services, than those that haven’t.

And that will make any Facebook ad campaigns that you run to those people on your retargeting lists, much more profitable.
