New Facebook Ad Creative Strategy to Maximize Sales

If you’ve ever run Facebook or Instagram ads, you know how hard it is to find a true winner—an ad that drives outstanding results consistently. After spending over $100 million on campaigns for 2,000+ businesses, I’ve learned that squeezing every ounce of value out of these winning ads is a game-changer. Unfortunately, most advertisers don’t take full advantage of their winning creative. In fact, I would say that almost no one does the steps that I’m about to describe in this article.

This guide will walk you through seven actionable strategies to get better results from your top-performing ads and squeeze as much value out of these ads as possible. These techniques are easy to implement and don’t require a full overhaul of your creative. Instead, they focus on making small, effective tweaks that extend the life of your winning ads and maximize their ROI.

Always try to get the most out of your Facebook winning ads

Why Squeezing Value from Winning Ads Matters

Creating high-performing ads takes time, effort, and resources. Out of 20 ads, you might find one top performer—that’s just 5%. When you do find that one winner, it’s critical to capitalize on it before ad fatigue sets in.

Ad fatigue happens to all ads eventually and it occurs when users repeatedly see the same ad and stop engaging with it. While all ads eventually lose effectiveness, these strategies can delay that decline, giving you more time to reap the rewards of a winning ad. This can dramatically improve the bottom line in your business.

Optimize winning ads at the beginning of their lifecycle whenever possible.

But even if you’ve already seen drop off for your winning ad you can actually still use the steps that I’m about to tell you to potentially extend the life of your winning ad.

Note: I’m not just talking about scaling here and increasing the budget. That may be something that you want to do, but that’s not the purpose of this video. I’m talking about using other techniques that will help you to get as much value as possible out of your winning ads.

The 7 Techniques to Maximize Winning Ad Performance

1. Use ads styles that are proven to work

Before I go into the other techniques, I want to make sure that I go over this very important principle. One of the best ways to create Facebook ads that perform really well is to model from other Facebook ads that have delivered great results. You DON’T need to try and reinvent the wheel, especially when you’re first learning. You can find a great resource for Facebook ads that work at Hubspot here.

2. Change the Background

Change the background of your ad.

One of the simplest ways to refresh your ad is by changing its background. For image ads: Swap out the color, use a different image, or adjust the lighting. For video ads: Re-record the video in a new location. Keep the script and structure identical, but change the setting. This tweak helps bypass the “I’ve seen this before” filter that users subconsciously apply when scrolling. A visually distinct background grabs attention and prompts users to take another look.

3. Change the Way You Look

Change the way you look in your ad.

If you or someone else appears in your ad, make subtle changes to your appearance. Wear a different outfit or use a distinct color palette. Alter your hairstyle or add/remove accessories (e.g., glasses). These small changes create enough visual variation to re-engage your audience.

If the ad is a video that features a person, consider swapping them out with a new individual who still aligns with your brand’s target demographic. You want them to say the exact same script and the same content as much as possible, but just a different person doing it.

Pro Tip: Ensure the person in your ad resonates with your audience. For example, if your product is aimed at young women, avoid using an older male actor.

4. Reorder the Content

reorder the content of your ad

For video ads, you can often get better results simply by rearranging the sequence of your content. Keep the hook: This is the most critical part of your ad and shouldn’t change. Reorganize points: Shuffle the order of your main selling points or benefits. This method works particularly well if your video isn’t narrative-driven and doesn’t rely on a specific order to make sense. It makes the ad feel different and can give you a nice boost in performance.

5. Apply Filters

Apply filters to your ad

Visual filters are a quick way to make your ad look new without altering its core content. Convert your ad to black-and-white or sepia tones. Experiment with cartoon-style effects or subtle color grading. Filters can make your ad stand out and appear fresh while staying on-brand. Just ensure any effects you apply align with your business’s overall aesthetic.

6. Adjust the Editing Style

Adjust the editing style of your ad

Small tweaks in editing can create a new experience for viewers.

  • Animations: Add or remove animations to vary the look and feel.
  • Captions: Experiment with different colors, fonts, or animation styles for your text.
  • Music: Add background music, remove it, or switch to a different track to evoke a new mood.
  • B-Roll: Incorporate or remove supplemental footage to mix up the visual flow. Even minor changes like speeding up or slowing down the video slightly can make the ad feel fresh to your audience.

7. Change the Delivery Style

Change the delivery style of your ad

Re-record your video with variations in tone and style: Be more animated or calm: Adjust your energy to appeal to different segments of your audience. Shift between professional and playful: Test whether a more serious or lighthearted approach resonates better. You can also try speeding up or slowing down the video in post-production to create a subtle but noticeable difference.

This can help your ad appeal to different segments of your audience.

Why These Techniques Work

All seven techniques aim to address the same problem: ad fatigue. When users feel they’ve “seen it all before,” they scroll past without engaging. By introducing subtle but noticeable changes, you can break through this mental barrier and recapture their attention.

What You Should Avoid

While these strategies can breathe new life into your ads, avoid making changes that alter the core winning elements. For example: Don’t change the hook: This is likely the reason the ad performed well initially. Avoid over-editing: Too many changes can make the ad lose its original appeal. These techniques are about refreshing the visual wrapper of your ad, not creating an entirely new one.

The Long-Term Value of These Strategies

When you apply these techniques, you extend the lifespan of your winning ad significantly. A high-performing ad that might have lasted two months could now generate results for a year or more. By combining multiple strategies—changing the background, tweaking the editing style, and switching the delivery tone—you can create several refreshed versions of your ad. This minimizes the time and resources spent on creating new ads from scratch.

You Don’t Always Have to Reinvent the Wheel

Getting better results from Facebook ads doesn’t always require reinventing the wheel. By using these seven strategies, you can maximize the value of your winning creative while saving time and money. Remember, the key to long-term success in Facebook advertising is testing and iteration. Once you’ve extracted as much value as possible from your existing winners, you can shift your focus to creating new campaigns with confidence. These techniques aren’t just about improving performance—they’re about working smarter. So, before diving into your next campaign, revisit your current winners and see how you can apply these strategies to squeeze even more value out of them.
